Women who do as little as one extra hour a week of moderate physical activity—like taking a brisk walk—can cut their level of harmful cholesterol by between 4 and 10 milligrams per decilitre. The New York Times reports on a nine-year study that followed almost 9000 fairly sedentary middle-aged adults. The study was published in the August 2009 edition of The Journal of Lipid Research.
